Anchor Brewing 2024 Christmas Ale. The december 2014 byo cover story i wrote provided clone recipes for several of their classics including anchor steam, liberty, and old foghorn, but at the time they were not willing to. Slightly darker than last year’s christmas ale, the 2019 edition is layered with toasted caramel and coffee flavors with subtle hints of mexican chocolate, rounded out with herbaceous spices.

Christmas ale is in it’s 43rd annual vintage for 2022, each year brewed with a different blend of spices/special ingredients that take this always dark mahogany brown winter. An iconic san francisco christmas spiced ale from 2011 has been transformed into old potrero christmas.
